The creative midfielder insists he has never considered a move back to Argentina after struggling to make an impact at San Siro in the last two seasons
Ricky Alvarez says he has no regrets over his decision to join Inter despite struggling to hit top form in his Serie A career to date. The 25-year-old joined the Nerazzurri from Velez Sarsfield in the summer of 2011, but inconsistency and injury problems blighted his initial two seasons in Italy.
Alvarez has forced his way firmly into the first-team for the start of the 2013-14 season, however, and he insists he is pleased with his current progress and ruled out a potential move back to his homeland.
"I never had any regrets about joining and I never thought about a return to Argentina," Alvarez toldTuttosport.
"I knew that it would not be easy when I got here. Inter are a big team and one of the most important in the world. I was never going to give up easily, though.
"I knew that a return to Argentina would be a step back for me and my goal has always been to move forward.
"A lot has changed for me since I came to Inter. I have much more confidence now. I am very well physically and I feel strong on the pitch. For a while, this was not the case due to physical problems."
Alvarez has made over 50 official appearances for Inter since his arrival in 2011.
